My elephants finding more new homes

I’m thinking today Emily and her family should be getting the box of elephants. I’m so excited to hear how it went!

I also gave a bag of Elephants to a co-worker.  She’s an old soul so I picked out a few things, but it was hard to find the right ones for a young lady who has an old soul without giving her “old lady” stuff or stuff that’s too young.

I gave an Elephant bubble maker (Christmas themed) to an other co worker for her granddaughter.

I’m excited about finding new homes, but I find myself thinking about a few Halloween decorations to replace the space those boxes were in …..

Meet Emily – My New Elephantship

m_c81222684100499e910c4452638de388My new young Elephantship Emily and I have a lot in common. I have packed a small box for this young herd of elephant lovers. I can not wait to hear how it goes. Her mom was kind enough to tell me her Emily’s story.

“Emily has received almost all of her elephants as a gift of some sort. She is currently obsessed with this mini Horton that we bought her as part of her Horton hears a Who movie and one time she lost it and was completely tore up so I rushed straight to the store and bought every single one they had left just in case another incident like that happened again ! Emily is even getting her younger sister into loving elephants and Autumn (other daughter) has started carrying one of Emily’s elephants around. They call them Effenants ( so cute! )

She loves getting her elephant’s picture taken. Some of these are of her birthday party she wanted a big helium balloon elephant and her own elephant cake and she even got a special air brushed elephant shirt among many elephant things such as toys clothes books, and movies. She is wearing her elephant shirt in her party pictures. That is her favorite shirt”.

New Word – Elephantship

Just to get you all up to date – I am now giving away Elephants left and right! It’s fun to find other people who collect them and make a little care package. Its fun trying to think out what kind of person they are and what they would appreciate.

This weekend I repacked some of my collection and I have gone from 30 boxes to 8! That is a lot of new homes! My first attempt at letting my addiction go, I really had hoped to make a few hundred jut to pay back some of the storage cost. Come to find out Elephant collectors not only have the collection in common but their accumulation of the collection is similar. Every elephant collector I’ve spoken to have collections that seems to have started in the same  way– a gift, and then they keep getting them as gifts. No need to go out and buy an Elephant because you keep getting them as gifts. We collectors want every Elephant we see, so any Elephant given has immediate value. The financial value no longer exists and the emotional value surpasses.

There is a new posting on my last entry – and I am excited to have made a new Elephantship. And yes THAT IS A WORD, at least it is now. It is a friendship that starts with an Elephant. A simple well loved Elephant.

Still Trying to Find New Homes …

Did a sale a few weekends ago – didn’t do well so I didn’t want to write about it. Been feeling defeated by my collection.

But a friend of mine emailed me more pictures of his girls. The young ladies enjoys their first herd of elephants that their dad said he was up for taking a second herd home. Here are pictures of the girls.

Found A Fellow Collector Just Like ME

Sunday I woke and watched the clock from about 8:45 to 9am. I was exacted to meet a fellow elephant collector and pass on some of my favorite elephants. We were to meet at 9:30 and I didn’t want to be too early so I waited and waited.

I got to Cathy’s place and when I got to the door I knew I was in the right place - there are Elephants greeting her guests.

Meeting Cathy was a great moment. I knew the second I looked in her eyes that she would appreciate and love the elephants as much as I have. I got a tour of their house and her collection, it’s amazing how many elephants there are. I maybe have 10 that are the same as her. Cathy and her husband are guessing about 300 elephants in her collection, I have a feeling it’s 400 or more.

Her collection varies as well: glass, jade, a candy dish, a little kids table, a piggy bank that was made for her and the list goes on. I was in aw of the collection – and I think only an other elephant collector would understand this excitment.

I was able to sit down with them for about an hour, they’d been married over 50 years and raised 10 kids in the house they were living in – and built! Lovely people and hope to keep in touch.

As I drove away I realized I had forgotten some thing – I should have taken a picture of Cathy and I.

Thank you Cathy for opening your heart and giving my friends a new home!

Moving into my New Place

I have recently moved – I am a first time home buyer. I love my place.

The first thing that moved in, Sammy Ele – Caption – Phant.

It’s a strange feeling to wash the bath / hand towels and put them in the guest bathroom, opened the package for an elephant blanket, and even put elephant salad serving forks in the kitchen. I also have a toy box for the nieces and nephews where 90% of the toys are elephants. I’m trying hard not to let them take over, but just enough to make this place mine.

I have given away a lot of elephants, and have it on the books to give away more. I met up with a lady who does work for a safe house, and gave her about 3 boxes worth of books and stuff animals. My friend Greg and his daughters have requested a second heard, and there is a dear patient of mine who has a friend who is interested in getting a few more elephants for her collection. I’ll toss in a few free ones – I need the space so my guest room can be a guest room.

My Friends Found New Friends

I gave a box of my friends to my friend Greg. He has 2 cute little girls who offered to give some elephants a good home. He sent me this little  note and a few pictures.
Thanks girls for opening your hearts to them!
